Re: Writing As A Form Of Therapy

Listen to some words instead of writing them @BlueBay .... put some music on maybe ??  That's one of my go-to's when my mind is too busy and I'm feeling confused .... just put everything down for a while and self-care ...

Re: Writing As A Form Of Therapy

I ended up listening to True Colours song from Cyndi Lauper.  But it made me cry 😞

Re: Writing As A Form Of Therapy

Makes me cry sometimes too @BlueBay, depending on my mood, but it is a beautiful song ...

Why don't you try another one ?  There are lots of songs out there that are more upbeat .... put on something that makes your feet want to dance ❣

Re: Writing As A Form Of Therapy

Hi everyone, glad to see this thread open again.
@BlueBay, I agree with @Faith-and-Hope, put some music on and breathe in the words. Replenish your soul. Its hard to receive when you're use to running around for everyone else. Take a minute, or 10. If you can't relax put pen to paper about the songs.

I have a mindfulness exercise that helps me write write write when i need to express pent up stuff. It might not work for you but you could try it. I just start with describing my immediate surroundings as i perceive it, in 5 different ways, through the 5 sense (where i am, how I'm positioned, what I'm touching, what i hear - near or far, smell, see, taste etc) Then i pick one that stands out the most (but in this case, for you, it might help to describe what you're touching & how that feels (prickly, cold, soft, warm etc), start writing how it makes me feel & think. Usually, the brain soon gets the message I'm writing & the words begins to flow. Let me know if it works for you. Shouldn't be too hard cause you're very expressive normally. Good luck 💕
whats you're favourite colour?

Re: Writing As A Form Of Therapy

Yeah @BlueBay

Write this mindfulness stuff into your journal 😊

Great suggestion @Former-Member ❣
